It's never been easier to find so many quilt patterns online. When
you find a quilt design you want to make, the pattern has all the instructions
to make that quilt. A great site to find over 100 different patterns is Victoriana Quilt Designs, which has been offering downloadable quilt patterns since 2001. It's a pretty online oasis, too!
You'll find most of the patterns offered from Victoriana Quilt Designs on the Pattern Page, and the pages that link from there. On
the main Pattern Page, you will find the quilts that are available to
Victoriana
Members, for free. 1.
Click the Past
Patterns button to see many more quilts, that are available to purchase.
After you choose a quilt pattern, and made your purchase, you will receive the pdf pattern file, attached to an email. It
is recommended that you print
the pattern and the coloured web page.
Now
you have: 2. The Fabric Key which gives you the list of fabrics required to make the pattern, including the amounts you will need. 3.
The pattern itself includes a black and white drawing of the quilt pattern.
*Basic
quilting tools & notions include rotary cutter, cutting mat, grid
ruler(s), thread, scissors, sewing machine, seam ripper, iron &
ironing board/mat.
The
patterns from Victoriana Quilt Designs also include a Technique List. Theses pages also come as pdf files and are available (free) from the Techniques Page, in the Library of the site. Requesting them all will give you a whole book, with the techniques used when making quilts - a great guide for beginners!
If the pattern has templates, to make some of the elements of the quilt, the full size templates will also be included in the pattern.
When
you purchase a pattern, you get the full instructions and permission
to make the quilt, as the designer has created.
